I love Zel and Lina together, that's all there is to it. She's single-minded in trying to find the next more powerful spell (or the next great meal) and he's single-minded in trying to find the cure for his body. It's obvious that Zel admires and cares for Lina a great deal, but sometimes she just... gets... to him!
